“Quud aan loo joogin loomaquryakurto”
Rarely do non-Somali speakers, understand the above folkish saying, “quud” stands for food (e.g., food ingredients, قوت) and “quryo” for firewood (حطب), meaning in the absence of ingredients in this case “quud”, don’t sit the fire for coking “quryo”.
In my opinion there is no better example than the lac operon in bacteria, where the metabolic enzyme for lactose are not transcripted in absence of lactose. In Somali, this quote is a metaphor for realizing reality and not get carried away with false dreams, for example a person can’t go to war if he doesn’t have the required skills or a person can’t travel by a plane without a passport unless you are the queen of England.
Basically, without the necessary requirement don’t engage in work you can’t do, it’s a bit on the dark side, nonetheless only when you understand yourself and known your ability and skills then you can truly improve.

They say keep moving forward and never look back.
They say your mistakes can’t be fixed.
But why don’t they say: (1) you need to UAA, UAG, or UGA, (2) go 3’ -> 5’ in your life read your mistakes correct them, and (3) then take the 5’ -> 3’ road again?
