Camelid genomics
Our main research interest revolves around the one-hump camel (Camelus dromedarius) and its sister camelids. In collaboration with Dr. Bader Alhajeri (KU), our current research objectives are:
- Establish a systematic camel sampling procedure.
- Establish an archive (Cdrom archive) of camel DNA samples accompanied by detailed phenotypic, pedigree, and medical conditions information.
- Collect camel samples from Kuwait and neighboring countries.
- Establish and standardize methods of morphometric measures for camelids’ adaptive and non-adaptive traits.
- Build a camel research network with labs in neighboring countries and around the world.
Our camelids related scientific activities are presented in the Jamalid Report blog.
