 Camelid genomics

Our main research interest revolves around the one-hump camel (Camelus dromedarius) and its sister camelids.  In collaboration with Dr. Bader Alhajeri (KU), our current research objectives are:
  1. Establish a systematic camel sampling procedure.
  2. Establish an archive (Cdrom archive) of camel DNA samples accompanied by detailed phenotypic, pedigree, and medical conditions information.
  3. Collect camel samples from Kuwait and neighboring countries.
  4. Establish and standardize methods of morphometric measures for camelids’ adaptive and non-adaptive traits.
  5. Build a camel research network with labs in neighboring countries and around the world.

Our camelids related scientific activities are presented in the Jamalid Report blog.
